After getting divorced and quitting my job, I returned to my hometown as if fleeing. Wanting someone to listen to me, I headed to a familiar bar I used to frequent. Just as the alcohol was starting to kick in and things were getting fun, a woman I recognized walked into the bar alone. I’ll never forget her. It was Ruu, my ex-girlfriend from high school—someone I’d loved but had to break up with due to the long-distance relationship. Ruu—my ex-girlfriend from high school.
