In the midst of the fierce competition for school admissions, the Tanaka family, like so many others, was swept up in the tide of entrance exams. Akemi, the mother, took her son on a school tour and was impressed by the atmosphere and educational philosophy. Her son also told her he wanted to attend this school. A few days later, Akemi received a call asking her to come to the school. Apparently, her son’s academic performance wasn’t up to par.
